What they could let someone do.
What could happen
- Database injection
Someone could read or change what is in the site's database: customer details, orders, password records, or a new administrator account.
How: The software builds its questions to the database out of what visitors type, so carefully written input changes the question itself.
Read about it here - Server side request forgery
Someone could make your server fetch addresses for them, reaching services that are meant to be private.
How: The software fetches an address it was sent without checking where it points.
- Missing checks
Someone could do things only an administrator should: change settings, see private data, or give themselves more rights.
How: Part of the software forgets to check who is asking before it does what was asked.
